Privacy Policy
Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what information Foljare collects, why we collect it, and how we handle it. The short version: we sell software (a WordPress plugin and theme) and the lookup service that powers it — we collect only what's needed to run your account and license, and we never sell your data.
1. Information we collect
When you create an account or buy a license we collect:
- Your name and email address — used for your portal account, license delivery, receipts and service emails (such as low-credit alerts).
- Your license and usage data — the API keys issued to you, the domain each key is locked to, your credit balance and a log of API calls made with your key (needed for billing, abuse prevention and support).
- Payment is handled by our payment providers over an encrypted connection. We never see or store your full card details.
When your store's customers use the lookup feature, the public @handle they search passes through our lookup API to fetch public profile data. We only receive the handle, your domain and your API key — never your customers' names, emails or payment details, which stay entirely on your own site.
2. How we use your information
- To operate your account: license validation, plugin updates, credit metering and the customer dashboard.
- To send transactional emails: purchase receipts, license and setup information, and low-credit alerts.
- To provide support, including looking up your license, credit balance and API log when you contact us.
- To prevent fraud and abuse (e.g. key sharing, credit-draining bots), and to comply with legal obligations such as bookkeeping requirements.
3. What we never do
- We never sell, rent or trade your personal information to anyone.
- We never access your WordPress site or your store's customer data — the plugin runs entirely on your own hosting.
- We never use your store's lookup traffic for anything other than serving the lookups and metering credits.
4. Sharing with third parties
We share data only with service providers who are necessary to run the platform: payment processors (to take payment), email delivery services (to send receipts and alerts), the upstream data APIs that serve public social-media lookups (which receive only the searched handle — never who searched it), and, for bundle customers using the hosted AI features, the AI provider that generates responses (which receives the conversation or photo being processed — never your account details). Each provider may only use the data to perform its service for us.
5. Data retention
Purchase records are kept as long as required by accounting and tax law. API logs are rolling and only the most recent entries are retained. You can ask us to delete your account data at any time — see your rights below.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR if you are in the EU/EEA), you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct it, have it deleted, restrict or object to its processing, and receive a copy in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, contact us — we respond to all requests within 30 days.
7. Cookies
We use cookies to keep your login, cart and session working and to understand how the site is used. See our Cookie Policy for the full list and how to control them.
8. Your own store's privacy
If you run a store with our plugin, you are the data controller for your own customers. The plugin ships with GDPR tooling to help you: personal data export and erasure integration, and privacy-policy suggestions you can adapt for your site.
